1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We collect information you provide directly, including:

Account registration information (name, email address, password)
Profile information (username, bio, avatar)
Journal entries and dream logs
Tarot readings, I Ching consultations, rune readings, Human Design charts, and divination session data
Birth date, time, and location (used for astrology and Human Design calculations)
Chinese astrology (Bazi/Four Pillars) profile data
Your Spirit Guide conversations, and the questions you send to AI interpretations
Community posts, comments, and chat messages
Vision board content and affirmations
Breathwork, sound healing, and practice session data
Energy check-in and mood tracking data
Preferences and settings
Payment information (processed securely by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers)
Any other information you choose to provide

1.2 Information Recorded as You Use the Service

When you use the Service, we record:

Your progress — XP, levels, streaks and achievements — from the practice you log
The day you open Tarot, Reality Experiments, a crystal’s card in the Crystal Guide, your Insights page or Human Design (once a day, not what you do there)
When you reach a Supporter feature that is locked: which feature (once a day)
If you turn on notifications in the app: your device's notification token, and whether it is iOS or Android
When you set a reminder: your device's time zone, so it arrives at your local time
When something fails on your screen: the message you saw, the page, and whether you were on the web, iOS or Android
Your device's location, only if you allow it when a tool asks (sunrise, planetary hours, nearby places) — it is not saved

Our hosting and sign-in providers (Vercel and Supabase) record your IP address and browser or device type when your device connects, as part of running the Service. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers. What is stored on your device is described in our Cookie Policy.

1.3 Sensitive Personal Information

Due to the nature of our Service, you may choose to share sensitive personal information in your journal entries, dream logs, AI conversations, community posts, or other user-generated content. This may include information about your mental or emotional state, spiritual beliefs, dreams, and personal reflections. We treat this information with heightened care as described in this Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
Personalize your experience and provide customized content
Power the AI features you choose to use (Spirit Guide, and the AI interpretations for Tarot, Pendulum, Runes, I Ching and the Astrology comparison) by sending our AI provider what each one needs, as listed under AI Processing below
Calculate and store astrology profiles (Western, Vedic, and Chinese) based on your birth information
Enable community features and facilitate user interactions
Track your progress and generate analytics and insights
Send you service-related communications
Respond to your requests and provide customer support
Process payments and manage subscriptions
Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
Comply with legal obligations
Develop new features and services

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

AI Processing (Anthropic)

When you use an AI feature, we send Anthropic (our AI provider) what that feature needs to answer — and nothing is sent unless you use one. Each feature sends:

Spirit Guide — what you type to it; your birth details, chart and numbers (never your name); what you drew in Tarot, Runes and I Ching, and the Pendulum’s answers, and when; the titles, tags and dates of your journal entries, dreams and shadow-work sessions; the names of your rituals and vision boards; your practice counts, streaks and check-in scores. The text you wrote — journal and dream entries, dream symbols, shadow-work insights, check-in notes, and questions you asked the cards, runes, I Ching and pendulum — is sent only if you turn on “Let your guide read what you wrote”, which is off by default. You can change it in the Spirit Guide or in What Soulbase keeps on your Profile.
Tarot, Pendulum, Runes and I Ching interpretations — the question you typed for that reading and what was drawn, only when you tap to ask for an interpretation.
Astrology comparison — your chart's placements and timing across Western, Vedic and Chinese astrology. Not your name: the AI is told “this person”.

Anthropic processes this data solely to generate your response. Under our agreement, Anthropic does not use your data to train their AI models, does not store your prompts or responses beyond what is needed to provide the service, and does not share your data with third parties. For more information, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

What we keep: your Spirit Guide conversations, so you can pick one up again (it reopens if you come back within 24 hours; after that a new one starts and the earlier one stays kept); an interpretation, saved with its reading when you save the reading; and an astrology comparison, saved so it loads again without asking the AI twice. You can remove any conversation at any time in What Soulbase keeps on your Profile; starting a new session keeps the one before it.

Community Content

Posts, comments, and other content you share in community areas are visible to other users as you have designated.

Service Providers

We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Vercel (application hosting), and Anthropic (AI processing, as described above). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal processes.

Business Transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.

With Your Consent

We may share information for other purposes with your consent.

No Sale of Data

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing by third parties.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. This includes journal entries, dream logs, tarot readings, astrology profiles, AI conversations, and other practice data you have created. You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time, in the app: Profile → Danger Zone → Delete My Account. Deleting it also cancels a supporter subscription immediately and removes your billing record at Stripe. Or you may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@soulbase.io. We will delete or anonymize your information within 30 days of such request, unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Your Spirit Guide conversations are stored on our servers, not with our AI provider, and each is deleted when you remove it or delete your account. Rate-limiting data (query counts) is ephemeral and resets automatically on a daily or monthly basis.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
API-level access controls and row-level security policies
Encrypted connections to third-party services (Anthropic, Stripe)
Regular security assessments
Secure data storage with trusted providers

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

The right to access, correct, delete, or port your data. A copy of your data — to keep, or to take elsewhere — is available on request by email, to support@soulbase.io; there is no export button yet.
Object to or restrict certain processing
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Opt out of marketing communications
See and remove what the app keeps of yours — your Spirit Guide conversations among it — in What Soulbase keeps on your Profile, or delete your account

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have information from a child under 16, please contact us at support@soulbase.io.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. This includes transfers to our service providers (Supabase, Anthropic, Stripe, Vercel), which may process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We take steps to ensure your data receives adequate protection in accordance with this Policy.

9. AI Features & Your Data

Soulbase uses AI-powered features to provide personalized spiritual guidance. We believe in transparency about how your data is used with AI. Here is what you should know:

AI features are optional. You can use all core tools (journal, tarot, astrology, breathwork, etc.) without ever interacting with AI features.
Your data is not used for AI training. Under our agreement with Anthropic, your personal data, conversations, and practice content are not used to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models.
What is sent depends on the feature, and your writing is yours to share. The Spirit Guide sees your activity — dates, titles, what you drew, your practice — and reads what you wrote only if you turn that on. The Tarot, Pendulum, Runes and I Ching interpretations send the question you typed for that reading. The Astrology comparison sends your chart, never your name. The full list is under AI Processing above.
Your conversations are stored, on our servers. Each Spirit Guide conversation is saved to your Soulbase account so you can pick it up again — in our database, not with Anthropic.
You control it. Remove a conversation at any time in What Soulbase keeps on your Profile (starting a new session keeps the one before it), turn the guide's reading of your writing on or off at any time, or delete your account.
AI is not a substitute for professional advice. AI-generated guidance is for spiritual and reflective purposes only. It is not therapy, medical advice, or professional counseling.

🇺🇸 10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including:

The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
The right to delete your personal information
The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including:

Access to your data
Rectification of inaccurate data
Erasure (right to be forgotten)
Data portability — a copy of your data on request by email, to support@soulbase.io
Objection to processing
The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

The legal basis for our processing includes contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, and legal obligations. For AI processing specifically, the legal basis is contract performance (providing the features you chose to use) and your explicit consent when initiating an AI conversation.

12. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We store only what the Service needs to work on your device — keeping you signed in, your settings, and work in progress. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. You can clear this through your browser settings; doing so signs you out.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on the Service and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
